With over 700 acres of private homesites finding your mountain getaway spot is easy.

Black Rock Creek Community is bordered by the Eastern Cherokee Reservation, protected lands of The Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy and the Nature Conservancy in Jackson County. The Balsam Mountains that we sit in are a biodiversity hotspot containing old growth forests, mountain bogs and spotted spruce-fir forests, a relic of the last ice age. This area also contains a wide diversity of wildlife. Black bears, wild turkey and grouse are common sights, as are hearing owl and elk calling to each other.

There are multiple hiking trails within the community including a trail to the peak of Black Rock Mountain at an elevation of just under 6,000' as well as multiple creeks and waterfalls to explore. In addition to hiking trails there are old logging roads to drive your ATV on and enjoy sweeping views of the mountains.

There are minimal building restrictions in place and no minimum square footage requirements. This gives you the freedom to build as large or as small as you would like. Lots can also be subdivided or used on a limited temporary basis for camping if desired.
